At the end of the NAS production run, Land Rover made 300 1997 Limited Edition Defender 90 Station Wagons, known as the LE. They were all Willow Green with  Safari Roof Rack and diamond plated add-ons. US production of Defenders stopped because LR was not going to redesign the factory to accomodate US safety laws by including ABS brakes and airbags. MSRP was $39,995
